Background
Comprehensive nursing care service ward is a service in which nurses and licensed practical nurses (certified nursing assistant) work together to provide nursing and caring for patients. For a family who is not able to caring patient by themselves, it has the advantage of being lower cost than private care ward.
The aim of our study is to reveal the effect comparison between comprehensive nursing care service ward and private care ward on recovery of functional outcomes in stroke patients.

Methods
We conducted a retrospective study in 131 patients who were admitted to the department of rehabilitation medicine between 2017 and 2018. Patients who experienced their first-ever stroke and unilateral lesions were included. All patients underwent conventional rehabilitation treatment. Patients were divided into two groups: Comprehensive nursing care service ward group (n=64) and private care ward group (n=114). Outcomes were measured through the korean version of modified barthel index (MBI), medical research council (MRC) scale, korean-mini mental status examination (K-MMSE) and fall occurrence during admission.

Results
There were no significant differences on the change of MBI, MRC, K-MMSE and occurrence of fall (P>0.05) between comprehensive nursing care service ward and private care ward.

Conclusion
Based on results, whether admitting to comprehensive nursing care service ward or private care ward had a similar effect on functional recovery and fall occurrence in stroke patients. Comprehensive nursing care service ward can be a option considering the economic costs.
