Background & Objective:
The Safety Assessment Scale (SAS) is an assessment tool that has proven reliability and validity and can evaluate various safety factors, including living environment, fire and burns, nutrition, medicine and health problems, and injuries, by relatively small number of questionnaires.
This study aims to translate the SAS into Korean, which can evaluate safety in the home.
In addition, the Korean version of Safety Assessment Scale (K-SAS) is applied to the elderly to compare the degree of risk in the home due to cognitive impairment.

Methods:
The K-SAS has been completed through the process of Korean translation and expert group verification, reverse translation and expert group verification.
I investigated that the K-SAS was applied to two senior citizens aged 65 or older and compared to the Global Deterioration Scale (GDS).

Results:
As a result of this study, the GDS score difference was 3 points (subject 1=5, subject 2=2) and the K-SAS score difference was 27 points (subject 1=48, subject 2=21).
When comparing the subjects 1 and 2, the K-SAS score for subject 1, which has relatively higher GDS scores (cognitive impairment), was higher than subject 2.
The higher the K-SAS score, the lower the safety level.

Conclusion:
The results of this study show that the degree of risk in the home can vary depending on the cognitive function.
In the future, reliability and validity studies will need to be conducted to increase utilization of K-SAS.
